Spring is in the air....

I can't believe that we are nearing the end of Feburary. It's hard to believe that it's only two and a half weeks until spring break. I am desparately counting the days because I need this holiday. I need it to get my energy back from being sick and get ahead of the work that is still ahead of me. In the enxt few weeks I will be having my parent teacher interviews with the children that I teach. I have to get on those reports this weekend. It's not so bad because I have been keeping notes on all the children as they go throughout the day. So it's just a matter of going through this stack of paper for the notes. I enjoy doing these reports because it reflects my teaching to the children and to know that I am doing a fantastic job. These children are coming in happy and the are leaving happy. There is something to be said about teaching when a child comes up to you and is very eager to learn with you. I love it.
I have even started my own unit on the Farm. It is having great success. There aren't that many stores in Victoria that have a lot of teacher supplies so it was difficult to find a lot of materials for the farm, annd the stuff that I did find was too animated for the Montessori classroom. I did manage to find real looking stickers of farm animals so that has helped. There are a few stores in Edmonton that I would like to see when I am there.
I am looking forward to having my weekends back starting this one coming up. For those who don't know I have been living with my cousin starting on Friday night to Tuesday morning for the last 7 weeks while my aunt has been in New Zealand since early January and is coming home tomorrow (21). It has been great hanging out with my cousin but I am ready to have my weekends back to me and having fun with people who are my age. While with my cousin we went on this amazing 5k hike it lead us to a beautiful look out point over the ocean. It was a lot of fun. I want to go back there and hike somemore. It is near where we go fishing every summer, so I may see some of my marine friends. Oh the joys of summer coming up. I can't wait.
