Spring Break

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted. I've been super busy these last two months. I can't believe that we are on Spring break right now. I have a few days off from school and I am enjoying just hanging out and catching up on some much needed sleep. I am still at HD for another two weeks. I am giving notice this friday when I go back to work there. When I think about it I have worked so darn hard in the last two and a half years and I am really feeling the stress now and I need to have some time for myself. We have two weeks off for spring break and the second week my co worker and I are running a spring camp so I am very excited about that.
In June I am off to see another country concert in Vancouver. I get to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. It is going to an amazing concert. I can't wait.
The Rascal Flatts concert three weeks ago was so amazing. They had the flying machine that they couldn't use in Saskatoon and Edmonton. IT was so AWESOME. They played for 2.5 hours and played all their hits. It was their best concert yet. I can't wait for them to come back. It was such an awesome weekend except waking up on Sunday morning really sick with a migrane and feeling like throwing up. I managed making it to IKEA to do some personal shopping and then driving to the Ferry where we were told that we had just missed the 6 and we were waiting for the 7 which had a possible wait and then told that if we didn't make the 7 we would have to wait for the 9. It really sucks having to depend on a ferry to make it home but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
The cost doesn't concern me all that much but the waits do. Summer is just around the bend and with tourist coming in the wait for the ferry is only going to get worse. To go over in a car with two passengers it cost us $60.55 In the summer it's going to cost at least 75 for car and two passengers. But worth it. Especially if you make a trip to IKEA. I love that place. I prefer the one in Port Coquitlam. IT'S HUGE. I have never been in an IKEA that big until three weekends ago. I could get lost in that place.
Anyways, things are still great here. I have the TC10K at the end of April so have started to train for that. I bought new shoes that I am working in. I am very excited about it because it is so much fun. Training for it is going good. I have to get out more but it's been a bit difficult because of all the rain that we have been having. I WANT SUMMER. HEAT!!! LOTS OF IT.
Anyways I'm off to make t-shirts for the camp.
Talk to you all soon.

More Country

Okay so here is my photo of Aaron Pritchett and I. I was so excited about having my photo taken with him. He did surprise me by being a bit shorter than I thought. He seemed taller in his videos and interviews. Oh well, he is still on HOT country singer. I look forward to seeing him again. If anyone has the chance to see him, he is once again amazing in concert.
I am looking forward to seeing Emerson Drive in the next few months. I hope they are playing in Vancouver or surrounding area soon. I really would like to see them. There is lots of concerts coming up for me. I'm not sure if I will be able to attend all of them ones I would like to, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban in Seattle, etc.
Anyways I hope everyone has an awesome weekend. I know I will be. The sun is going to be shining and no rain.

I LOVE Country Music

Tonight was one of the best nights I have had in a few weeks. I was able to purchase tickets to see Aaron Pritchett in Duncan (a 30 minute drive from my house). He is absolutely amazing in concert. I would definately go again to see him. He is full of energy, enthusiasm and appreciates his fans. I was very lucky to have the chance to stand in line for 45 minutes to meet him, get his autograph and pose for a photo with Aaron. He is so awesome. I can't wait to see him again. I was so excited to know that he was coming to the island rather than Vancouver.
I am also excited to say that I am going to see Rascal Flatts again in Vancouver on March 3rd. I bought my tickets this last Saturday and am counting down the weeks to the concert. I really enjoyed their last concert and I know that I am not going to be disappointed.
Anyways I am going to post my picture of Aaron Pritchett and I on this blog in a few days. Right now I'm signing off because I have to work really early tomorrow and then tomorrow night at HD.
I hope everyone is doing well and I miss all my friends back east.

Photos

This is me on our last day in Calgary. We went back to the stampede to go on the rides and take in the expierence on more time. It was the best holiday ever.
I had so much fun in Calgary and look forward to attending it again next year. I love being in my car and blasting Kenny's music and everytime I do it I remember this special night in Calgary .
My highlight of the summer was seeing this gentleman in Calgary courtesy of The Ocean 98.5. Kenny Chesney's concert was the best I have ever been to. He was so amazing.
Here is a photo of our amazing cats. They are annoying as usual but I love them very much. They keep my life busy. Keko (orange) likes to try and escape and go romping around the yard. Ozzy (black) is cuddly but still dislikes boys and men, he only really likes my dad.
This is from the pumkin patch I went to on Wednesday. I love this time of year.
The top photo is one of Ruth and I at Mt Doug in Saanich. It was a difficult down the steep hill because it was dark out and we were very silly.
Here is Gayle and I on her first night home for her holidays. It was so good to have her home for the week. I worked all week but had the evening and two days off to enjoy her and Ruths visit.

I am planning on being in Edmonton to spend Christmas with my sister. She should be in her new place at the beginning of December and I know my sister she will have her place set up with all her Christmas decorations. I love being by a christmas tree at night watching Christmas movies and being with family. I can't wait. I am also on planning on attending an Edmonton Oilers game again the Flordia Panthers. I wanted to see the Edmonton/Vancouver game but then it would cut my time in Saskatoon in half because the game is on Saturday Dev 30 and we are planning to be in Saskatoon on the Friday night.
Anyways not much is happening here. Can't believe that it is the end of October already. I'm going to be 29 next month. I definately do not feel 29. Thank goodness!!!
Take care everyone.

Island Update

Hey everyone. I cannot believe that September is here. School is beginning for me on Tuesday. Its is hard to believe that it actually is. I had an amazing summer. I really enjoyed my holiday to Calgary. It was AWESOME. I would pay $200 a ticket to see Kenny Chesney!! I plan on going back to the Stampede next year.
We had lots of friends visit this summer. Especially in August. My grandma was here for three and a half weeks and Gayle and Ruth were here for one week. We had a lot of fun together. I miss them both lots. Glen and Janie were here for a few days. It was great to see them!
I spent a few days fishing at China Creek with my parents. That was a lot of fun. Caught a bunch of sockeye fish. Speaking of fishing we are going out first thing tomorrow morning. There has been a lot of good catches out by us lately. Mom landed a 27lb last Sunday night.
Big news is that I bought a laptop on Friday. I needed it to go to work and for all my assignments for school (ECE). Just a few more classes to go and then I will have my certificate in Early Childhood Education.
Anyways have to get going. Will be back soon to post pictures of my summer holiday!!!!
Carrie.

Calgary Stampede

F or those who don't know I am off to the Calgary Stampede on July 11-13 courtesy of 98.5 The Ocean radio station here in Victoria!!! I won round air fare, hotel, two tickets to the rodeo and the best of all two tickets to the and only Canadian stop for KENNY CHESNEY!!!!! I have never won anything like this before so I was very happy to receive a 6:35am wake up call this past Friday. This is the perfect prize package for me!!!! My name is even on their web site!!!
I have picked my sister to come with me except her boss is being a bit ridculous and is probably not going to give her the time off even though she said she would! So, I am in the middle of trying to get them to change the name on the details for flights etc. I have talked to West-Jet to see what their policy was for changing the name of the person flying and they have a $40 charge for changing the passenger name. Please pray that they (the radio station) will agree to changing the name so I can take my mom (who wants to see the stampede) oh yeah and she will be the chapperon!!!
It doesn't seem real just yet, but this time in four weeks I will be in Calgary!!!!
As for what else is happening down here, I am off to China Creek for the weekend to spend some time fishing with my parents and Blair who flew down on Sunday for a week to go fishing and to see my parents. I'm hopping to catch some fish this weekend.
I was at the Undersea Gardens today and Trav, there was this huge salmon that was larger than yours. I thought the fish you caught was big but this guy puts yours to shame!!!
Anyways everything here is going great! School is out in one week!!! A very busy time for us trying to get everything done and organized for the summer.
Take care

The light at the end of the tunnel

My title describes what is happening at this moment in my life. I have about 6 weeks left of my practicum and then I will officially be a Montessori Teacher. YIPPEE!!!!!! I am so excited! I have some assignments that are still due but will be working towards having them all completed by the end of June. I have also signed up to take somemore Early Childhood Classes through distance learning at Lethbridge Community College.
I can't believe how much time has flown by. It seems like it was just last week that I was preparing to go back to school after two weeks off but instead I am planning my summer holidays. For those who do not know I may not be able to make it back east for the summer because I have a job and a volunteer position again that helps protect my favourite mammal in the whole world -the killer whale (orca).
I had an amazing weekend off last weekend, my sister flew down for mother's day and the burial of our grandpa. It was so awesome to have her home. I miss her lots!! I know she is doing well in Edmonton and it is always so much easier for me to get there. I am the one with the time off during the summer and school year. We spent a lot of time just hanging out and visiting with close family. We had a surprise birthday party for Gayle as her birthday is May 28th and some of us will not be able to celebrate it with her. It was great!
Other then that my life is still really busy. I am taking country dance lessons starting tomorrow night (I'm preparing for my next Edmonton trip). It is going to be so much fun. Someone was telling me that there are a lot more cowboys here then we think. The other day some huge truck drove past me playing my favourite male country artist Kenny Chesney. I could have started dancing in the streets because I love his music so much.
The weather here has been so amazing. I have had a tan for the last 4 weeks even had a few burns during the last four weeks too. I did a presentation to the children on how to apply sunscreen to a doll and then they can look in a mirror and apply sunscreen to themselves (it's all about the child becoming independent) the children in my class all come up to me now in the morning and saw "Carrie, I put sunscreen on this morning! Wanna smell" so being the teacher who I am, I smell their arms and tell them that I smell sunscreen. I also did this handwashing presentation where I bought some coconut soap from the BodyShop and we did a handwashing exercise. Frank Leto sings a song about coconut soap that the children love so we listened to the song and then I did the presentation. They all loved it.
I am in the Victoria Day Parade on Monday. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not but will see. I hope the weather cooperates and it does not rain like it is predicted.
Anyways this is me signing off. Talk to you all later.
